The Silver Jubilee Awards
Theme: Soaring on Silver Wings

First conceptualized in 1993 in preparation for the celebration of RAP’s Silver Jubilee in 1995 it was meant to honor individuals, institutions and literacy programs or projects that had an impact on the nation in the preceeding 25 years. Awards night was held in October of that year at the Century Park-Sheraton Hotel. Among the distinguished recipients were the founding RAP president herself, Dr. Aurora Roldan, Professor Basilisa Manhit,the mentor of great visions from the UP and a young teacher from Marungko, Bulacan Ms. Josefina Urbano who was posthumously recognized for having co-created (with Malaysian Noorayhan Ali) the Marungko Approach to teaching beginning reading..Also awarded the silver trophies were the Summer Institute of Linguistics, the UP Department of Reading and the PNU Reading Center as well as the Magbasa Kita program, one that was successful in the Muslim communities decades before the recognition. All in all there were 25 honorees including other individuals , institutions and programs that had rendered services to the RAP.
The Pearl Anniversary Awards
Theme: I read, I teach, I touch the future

In the year 2000, the new millennium saw more than 30 recipients of the RAP awards to mark its 30th Anniversary. Most noteworthy honorees were Virgilio Almario, Paraluman Giron, Ambeth Ocampo, Onofre Pagsanghan, Antonio Torralba and Rene Villanueva while institutions and programs included Kuting, Ang INK, HASIK, Museo Pambata and Gurong Pahinungod of the UP System. The Awards night was held at the Galleria Suites.

The Ruby Anniversary Awards
Theme: The Ruby Road to Reading

Much anticipated but already in place at the moment is the 40th Anniversary Celebration which will be held jointly with the Asian Literacy Conference at the Manila Hotel in the first week of November, 2010.There are 40 awardees that will include celebrity honorees, making it a glittering affair. More details will appear in this website at the most opportune time.
